“My role in society, or any artist’s or poet’s role, is to try and express what we all feel. Not to tell people how to feel. Not as a preacher, not as a leader, but as a reflection of us all.”
Although John Lennon became a member of The Beatles, one of the world’s most famous bands, he had to overcome hardships in his life. But John’s creativity and way of seeing things differently than other people helped him move past the sadness and struggles in his life. He also believed strongly in the possibility of world peace, and he and his wife Yoko Ono campaigned strongly for this. To protest against the Vietnam war they both stayed in bed for a week and invited the media into ask them questions. It was a creative way to get attention about an issue they cared about. John Lennon’s creativity and commitment to a cause continues to inspire around the world today.
Do you use your creativity to look at things in a new or different way?
