1926 – 2022
“When life seems hard, the courageous do not lie down and accept defeat; instead, they are all the more determined to struggle for a better future.”
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor was never intended to become monarch of the United Kingdom. But when her uncle, King Edward abdicated in 1936, her father became king, and she was then first in line for the throne. As queen, she reigned for over seventy years, the longest reign of any British monarch. The seven decades she ruled were filled with years of highs and lows, joys and sorrows not only for her country and the world, but also for her family.
Throughout the next 70 years she was a selfless and hardworking figurehead for the nation and won the respect to the far ends of the earth. She remained steadfast in her duty, dedication, and devotion as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and most of all, queen. She showed strong humility throughout her reign as she selflessly represented her nation right till the end. She will be sadly missed.
What strengths do you feel the Queen had and what can you learn from her?
